Meet the Captain of Superyacht Dream Walker III

Port Nikau was proud to host Ocean Dream Walker III with us earlier this year as they completed maintenance and repairs after a South Pacific trip.

Ocean Dream Walker III is a stunning 47m Sanlorenzo motor yacht, launched in 2018. She is home to 11 crew and can take 10 guests.

We sat down with Captain Roberto to find out what brought his vessel to New Zealand and how he and his crew found their experience at Port Nikau in Whangārei.

Captain Roberto told us that when Ocean Dream Walker’s itinerary was planned for 2023, he was very much looking forward to visiting Whangārei. Roberto has a sailing yacht stored in Whangārei, which has taken him cruising around New Zealand and the South Pacific.

Ocean Dream Walker III came to New Zealand after travelling around the South Pacific to complete repair and maintenance work, as “everything is possible” here.

Roberto said the crew really enjoyed Whangārei and made the most of the nightlife here. “Everybody was quite happy to be here, and we were very happy with the Port Nikau facilities. Everything is very good for us and the contractors have been very friendly.”

Roberto also enjoyed our series of Whangārei brochures, providing useful information to crews on all the great activities available in the local area, including fishing and diving, as well as guides to local cafes, restaurants and entertainment. One guide features local bush walks and Roberto shared his experience climbing one of the local maunga, Mount Manaia, which offers spectacular views across the Whangārei Harbour entrance. “I am very happy here.”

What’s next on the itinerary? “Probably Australia and Indonesia, for the fishing!”
