Environmental Stewardship

The Whangārei Harbour is beautiful, and important culturally and financially to the Northland region and to the wildlife that calls it home. Port Nikau is committed to keeping the harbour waters healthy.

We are proud to support Sea Cleaners, an organisation whose vision is to preserve the New Zealand coastline for the benefit of marine life and future generations of kiwis. In 2022, Port Nikau provided Sea Cleaners with a 4.5 metre Blackdog Cat named Kaitiaki. Kaitiaki collects rubbish from Whangārei Harbour and passes it on to Northland Waste Whangārei, who consolidate the reusable plastic and send it to Future Post – an amazing team effort to preserve our coastline.
