Arataki Wharf and Port Nikau Wharf are dedicated to commercial vessels 13 metres to 18 metres in length, with drafts up to 8 metres. There are over 600 linear metres of berthage space and over 5,000 square metres of wharf lay-down space, ready to accommodate a wide range of commercial vessels including fishing boats, large commercial boats, tugs, workboats and charter vessels.
The Whangārei Harbour channel is dredged to 7.6 metres at chart datum. The channel is well-lit and markers start 3 miles out from the harbour mouth. The depth at the channel berth is 9 metres at chart datum and depth at the inside berth is 5.5 metres.
